Master craftsman breathes fire into decorating project

March 31st, 2016

Igniting the imagination, master craftsman and Brewers customer Richard Langley creates pieces of art which set the decorating world on fire. From recreating marbling and stone effects to rejuvenating damaged wallpaper and setting the scene with picture perfect murals, Richard’s skills  have the wow factor.

One of Richards projects to take flight is Belinda the Dragon, a piece Richard designed, built and painted to adorn the entrance porch of a residential dwelling in East Sussex.

Made from plywood, Belinda the Dragon was constructed from different pieces to give a three dimensional effect and the illusion of depth to the mythical beast.

To breathe life into Belinda, Richard used a range of Dulux emulsion sample pots purchased from Brewers which was then, once fully dried, covered in a clear acrylic external varnish to weatherproof the scales from the British weather.

To make the artwork extra special and to add an air of realism, Richard fitted LED lights attached to a proximity sensor, so that Belinda’s eyes shine bright when she greets visitors to the home she now proudly guards.
